On July 13, Carmeuse’s Maple Grove operation responded to a dire situation by donating bottled water and cooling fans to The Community Fortress, a local homeless shelter. The facility sent out an urgent request for these items after the air conditioning failed in the midst of very hot summer weather.
The Community Fortress is an immediate intake shelter that provides a place to sleep, meals, and hygiene facilities for overnight stays for the local homeless.
“Our team sourced and delivered bottled water and fans for the residents of The Community Fortress after hearing that the shelter was in need of immediate supplies,” said Paula Heckel, Human Resources Generalist. “July is very hot in our community, and we wanted to help the residents while the shelter works to repair its air conditioning.”
