Lime is fundamental in many sectors of industrial production to manufacture other inorganic and organic chemicals and pharmaceuticals. It is employed to enable chemical reactions in production. Most organic and inorganic calcium salts are produced by reacting acids with lime. Among the most important inorganic products using lime are calcium phosphates, fluorine, bromide, ferrocyanide, and nitrate. Lime is also used to manufacture organic substances, such as calcium acetates and lactates. Another function of lime in the chemical industry is its neutralizing action in the manufacture of chemicals, purification of brines, and aid in the concentration of glucose and dextrin.
