Huron Operation Sponsors Virtual 5k Race

Huron Operation Sponsors Virtual 5k Race

Carmeuse’s Huron operation recently sponsored the 2020 Huron River Fest 5k Race and Fun Run which took place virtually from June 7 to July 11. The funds raised from the race were donated to the Huron High School track and cross country teams for scholarships and a donation to Young Life of Erie County, which helps send individuals to summer camps.

This year the race was held virtually to maintain safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants were encouraged to time themselves running, walking or biking around local neighborhoods, parks or on a treadmill at home during the race period.

“The Huron River Fest 5k is always a great race that brings the community together in support of the high school track and cross country teams and Young Life of Erie County,” said Christine Mollison, Site Coordinator. “We were happy to support the virtual race this year. We thank the race organizers for pulling the race together while keeping participants safe during the pandemic.”
